To steam and puree my veggies and fruits I use the Beaba Babycook Baby Food Maker. You can read more about this amazing baby food essential here. To steam and puree your own baby food, the Beaba is not necessary, but it is convenient. You can steam and puree your foods in a pot and blender or food processor. Also, some veggies, such as sweet potatoes, can be baked rather than steamed and then pureed.
I have found three resources that I trust when seeking recipes and ideas for food. The first, is my child's pediatrician, second is this amazing website Wholesome Baby Foods, I trust this site because it coincides with several conversations and handouts given to us at her pediatrician's office. Lastly, my go-to baby food bible is Best Food for your Baby & Toddler by Jeannette L. Bessinger, CHHC. This book is a great read and has helped me understand the benefits of making my own baby food. It has great facts, recipe ideas as well as portion, prepping, and food introductory guides. I really love this book and recommend it to any one looking for help in this area.
This is a sample of what my daughter's meals look like. Every individual vegetable mentioned has been *tested which is why I can mix the veggies without worrying about allergic reactions. Please remember this is the way I feed my child. It works for her and in turn it works for me.

Although I love doing this for my baby, I am in no way a baby food snob. If you give your baby store bought food, I wouldn't throw my nose up at you. What you feed your baby is none of my business, and truthfully I couldn't care less. I've been asked several times how and what I do so, I've written this post. I hope to help other moms who want to make their own baby food, if that's what they need, but nothing more.
*It is often recommended to give your child the same food for a minimum of 3 days to determine any food intolerances.
