All shook up!

My baby just fell asleep and I had just turned on the heating pad to nurse my achy back when it happend: the earth shook. I immediately ran to her room to check on her, and as quickly as it began, it was over. I caught my breath and finished a prayer as my legs gave out in her nursery's thresh hold.

Typically, I would dismiss an earthquake with a giggle or with a "duh, we're in California" remark, but life has gotten more fragile and more precious. The worst part is that we are not prepared for THE BIG ONE.

I feel so small right now. Even though it was a 4.1 level quake, it shook me to the core. Not to mention I'm all alone and the closest relative I have is on the freeway bearing the 16 mile ride home. As a mother I can't afford to not be prepared. So, guess what I'll be doing in the next couple of days, yup, getting PREPARED. If you live in sunny California and are already earthquake proofed and have some wise words, or ideas please HELP!
