Beaba Foods- Fun with baby's first solid foods

I have to admit, I make a Christmas wish list. I always feel guilty and uncomfortable handing it out (to those who requested it in the first place) but, this year it was a bit easier to do so because I really only, truly, wanted one thing- the Beaba Babycook Baby Food Maker.

Several people now-a-days are trying to cut their cost down whenever and wherever possible. This is the case for us. With one income and the cost of living rising, we have been shamelessly using coupons, gift cards and such to help us in our attempts to save. The Beaba fits right in to our new way of spending and, since we rarely eat out, it really doesn't lengthen the amount of time I spend in the kitchen.

The possibilities are endless with the Beaba. If you are like me and have a limited culinary skill level, then you too will find the recipe idea book (included) extremely helpful. Here is a video, and further information on how to use the Beaba.

Many people understandably do not have enough time to make their own baby food,  but according to several websites, books and videos I discovered in my research, it should only take about 1 hour a week to prepare. Using baby food containers should help you easily store and prepare your baby's meal. My food storage containers of choice are affordable and convenient.

I am ecstatic and also a bit worried. I really want to start with veggies and gradually introduce sweeter fruits. So far, she has adapted to sweet potatoes and cereal. This week, I plan on introducing her to butternut squash and after 3 days or so, if it all goes well, I'm hoping to throw some avocado in the mix, green beans and  then BANANAS!

Hmm. I hope I have enough bibs.

  1. This seems like a very economical and healthy choice for the baby. Have you decided what day of the week you will prepare the baby food? How long can the food be stored?

  2. Storage depends on the food. Typically it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days after being cooked and up to 3-6 months in the freezer. I currently have the remaining squash in the freezer, chopped and un cooked.

Saturdays are the best day for me to prepare her food for the week. Being that her daddy is home and I don't have to feel guilty about not giving her 100% of my attention.
